Etubi Onucheyo is mastermind and artist behind the highly acclaimed Mumu Juju comic book. Like my pick at number 9, Etubi is yet another artist who worked for Vortex comics, along with Chima Kalu and veterans like Ganiyu Ibrahim. His art is also quite brilliant and Etubi’s also happens to be one of my favorite Nigerian comic artists.
Like most comic artists, he’s worked for a couple of other people and the Mumu Juju comic was initially published by Vortex but more recently featured in the Kugali anthology series. Etubi is a freelance artist and he’s even worked for Comic Republic on their Avonome series, which is usually drawn by Stanley Obende and I believe he’s done some work for Epoch studios as well. Be sure to check out more of his amazing art here: Etubi’s Artstation.
Anyways, that’s brings us to the end of the top ten. At least for now. The rankings aren’t permanent and with the ways things have been going lately, I half expect the positions in both lists to change.
Let’s take a look at this self-portrait he did of himself and some of the Mumu Juju stuff shall we.
